Windows Desktop Camera Software

When digital cameras were first released for the consumer market in 1995, there was no infrastructure for interfacing them to the Windows desktop. Camera manufacturers needed software to transfer pictures from the camera to the desktop. They wanted support for both 16-bit and 32-bit computers. Some wanted proprietary interfaces, others wanted TWAIN data source implementations, and still others wanted Adobe Photoshop® plugins. In addition, some manufacturers wanted the ability to remotely configure and control the camera from the PC.

Our Role in the Project

At the time of this project, CRB Consulting was operating as The Software Studio, Inc. The team designed and implemented a library of reusable components that were integrated and customized for each unique camera's requirements.
